LELYSTAD
SHOW 2009
Held again this year at the Aviodrome in Lelystad Nov. 7th & 8th another great FSWeekend show. The UK team was well represented by 10 in our group and I also ran into a couple of people i know, most notably Sean Nixon, Brendon Gibbons & Trevor Fielding. Nice one guys. Mark & Dave brought 'The Project' to demonstrate. There was a lot of interest in it. So Mark is now considering the possibilities of having it made commercially for re-sale. It's an amazing piece of circuitry which has really caught the imagination of a lot of people. Also there were Rhys Betteridge & Phil Lambert exhibiting some nice B747 & B767 kit which Phil makes. NICE KIT Check out his new DZUS Fastners and the New Type Map and Chart Switch Lightplates (yes i bought some). Pics will be on the News page shortly. For me this show is not so much about who can sell me what, it's also about seeing what fresh ideas are around. it's a chance to meet up with people who you know their name, but you can't put a face to and also to catch up with old friends. Nice
to see DIETER JAKOB and his wife from ROUTECH.
This man has an amazing sense of humour and is always a pleasure to deal
with (yes, he took money off me as well). Then of course the Revolution Simproducts TQ got it's first public viewing....... A lot of interest in this. Nice to see because these two guys put a lot of time and energy into developing this. The demo unit must have been good because they took several orders for new units....this is one to watch (and they have plans for other products). Always a pleasure to catch up with Gert from FLYWARE. Gert was running the new v5.8 of FSXpand and it was getting a lot of attention which is great to see. One
of the busiest Exhibitors was the ENGRAVITY
stand. Full high quality 737 display built onto the SIM
CONSTRUCT frame. They were so busy, i could never get close enough to
get a good shot, so i had to 'borrow' one. Spain, well represented. As well as OPENCOCKPITS, I had a chat with the guys at SISMO SOLUTIONES. Very, very nice kit. Not cheap, but very high quality. They were asking about the Revolution TQ (hmmmm). I've ordered some smoked glass panels from them for my MIP displays....... It never ceases to amaze me what an ingenious bunch we are. I thought this was clever. I stood and watched it working with a smile on my face. It's not all about building cockpits, in fact how many of us have motion? Check out the HI6SIM here. Then of course there's the Social Side. This year we went to the MyCockpits Meet for a beer. Great opportunity to meet up with people who's name you know, but who's face you don't :o)) This function was held at the FLANTUAS Restaurant on the airport. Spent a couple of hours chatting and enjoying a couple of beers before shooting off to the hotel and the second engagement of the night :o)) Every year, sort of a tradition really, we all gather at the Chinese Restaurant in Lelystad. It's a little like the United Nations really :o)) Country's represented were England, Wales ( I had to get that in ), Spain, Netherlands, Sweden and Turkey. It was a great pleasure to meet up with Bjorn Harlin, Lasse and Mr 777 again. I missed them last year. Special thanks to Pauline for putting up with us all over dinner :o)) Finally, I just want to say
THANK YOU to everybody I met and spoke to over the weekend, especially
MILOU and BOBBO, and to everybody else who I saw. It's you who make
this trip enjoyable. Until next year |
